The "Fons Honorum" is Latin for "Fount of Honour." It is
the Fons Honorum that makes an order of knighthood
"authentic", distinguishing it from a mere charitable or other
type of society. It is the Fons Honorum that creates
the capacity to "make Knights" as it were in a
genuine sense, and not merely in empty name. The
Fons Honorum can be a monarch or noble, a Patriarch
(i.e; Bishop) of an Eastern Rite Church, the Pope, or
other traditional Christian Bishops. In the
Western religious tradition, the authenticity of a Bishop
is defined by the doctrine of Petrine succession.
This is where spiritual authority is derived in a
direct line of succession from St. Peter, who was the
first Bishop, Pope, or Patriarch of the Christian
Church, and who received his spiritual authority directly
from Christ. There are Papal orders of
knighthood extant today. There are also Eastern Rite orders
of knighthood extant today, such as the Eastern Rite
Order of John of Jerusalem (The Hospitalers), whose
Fons Honorum is a Patriarch of an Eastern Rite Church.
The tradition for Christian Bishops serving
Honora for orders of knighthood is thus well
established, and persists to this day. Western Rite Bishops
and Eastern Rite Patriarchs then, do have the
traditional authority to issue Patents of Authority to create
orders of knighthood which can "make knights" which are
authentic, and not merely knights only in empty name.

Also, to clarify, because an Order of Knighthood is "new" does not mean that it is not legitimate. The Holy Order of the Knights of Corpus Christi is something that is sacred and very dear to me. We will not be similar to the many orders that have appeared recently on the Internet. We will not engage in the selling of the Holy Order of Knighthood, nor will we engage in the selling of various documents pertaining to the Order, although proper credentialing will be provided, never for a fee. The Order of Knighthood will only be invested in those persons who will be invited into the Order. That is to say, if you ask for it, you probably will not receive it. It was created to honor those who serve Our Lord, are dedicated to doing HIS work, and are dedicated to sharing the Gospel of Christ.

Please note that the CCEF cannot and will not confirm and/or verify the fons honorum of any other Order, group or person. Any document(s) presented which purport to do so are invalid.
